Betty Lou Hebert Simon
LAKE ARTHUR โ A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Our Lady of The Lake Catholic Church in Lake Arthur at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, 2022, followed by burial in Gueydan Cemetery.
Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 1, 2023, from 3-9 p.m. at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Lake Arthur. A rosary, led by Emma Trahan, was recited Sunday at 6 p.m. Visitation resumed Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
Betty Lou Hebert Simon, 76, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2022.
Betty was born in Gueydan on June 28, 1946, and was the daughter of Elaire and Edia Hebert. Betty lived in Lake Arthur for most of her life. She was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Betty enjoyed embroidering and crocheting beautiful doilies and enjoyed going to the casinos; Betty was an amazing cook and her family will miss her turtle sauce piquante and goose gumbo. Above all, she was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Betty is survived by her five sons, Lance Simon (Beverley), Kirk Simon (Leslie), Shatner Simon (Tammy), Dusty Simon (Torey, and Cody Simon (Sarah); daughter Christine Simon Brewster; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, with one on the way; her sister, Virgie Hebert and numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Oran Simon; her parents, Elaire and Edia Herbert and her siblings, Joe Hebert, Dave Hebert and Helen Simon.
Those chosen to honor Betty as her pallbearers were her five sons, Lance Simon, Kirk Simon, Shatner Simon, Dusty Simon and Cody Simon, her grandsons Keagan Simon and Zak Simon and her nephew Charles Simon.
Honorary pallbearers were Gavin Simon, Robert Brewster, Matthew Brewster, Quentin Simon and Jake Guidry.
