It is with a heavy heart that we share with you that our father, grandfather, brother and friend, Donald L Guidry, passed away peacefully on Feb. 6, 2023.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings beginning today, Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023, from 4:30-8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday, Feb. 10, 2023, from 8 a.m. until the time of his service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Gary DarDar officiating.
Donald was born in Welsh on July 10, 1944, to Arista and Hazel Guidry.
Donald loved camping, cooking and telling stories and jokes, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Donald was a kind and gentle man who was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Donald was a U.S. Navy veteran. He proudly served in the Vietnan war on the USS Gridley. After returning from the service, he worked at the John Deere dealership in Jennings until it closed. He finished his working years in the oilfield and refinery industry.
Donald is survived by his son, Chris and Kim Guidry (which was his favorite daughter-in-law) of Tee-Mamou; his mother, Hazel Guidry; two grandchildren, Cassidy and Kyle Guidry and his brothers, James “Jimmy” Guidry ( Corita ) of Evangeline and Thomas “Tommy” Guidry (Kathleen) of Tee- Mamou.
Donald was preceded in death by his father, Arista Guidry, and wife, Carroll Guidry, both of Tee-Mamou Those chosen to honor Donald as his pallbearers will be Kyle Guidry, Blaine Arabie, Greg LeJeune, Nolan Miller, Todd Fruge and Chad Patin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Deshotel, Timmy Guidry and Russell Bergeaux.
