Nora ‘Sue’ LaCombe
The family and friends of Nora “Sue” Havenar LaCombe are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on April 4, 2023, at the age of 77.
Viewing will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Friday, April 7, 2023, from 5-8 p.m.
Visitation and funeral service will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home from 10 a.m. Saturday, April 8, until noon, officiated by Pastor Austin Spell of Victory Gospel Lighthouse of Jennings.
Burial will follow at Raymond/Hathaway Community Cemetery.
Sue was born in Jennings to James W. Havenar and Mayola McCoy Havenar on Feb. 1, 1946.
She was a longtime resident of La Porte, Texas. Sue was a customer service representative for 22 years at Shipside Crating Company in Houston and prior to that manager of Central Lumber Company in Crowley for four years and Martin Home Center in Jennings for five years.
Sue enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and dancing to both French and country music. She adored the time spent with her beloved family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was very loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Sue is survived by her husband of 40 years, Ellery LaCombe of Houston, Texas; her seven children, Leisa LaCombe Hodges of Dallas, Texas, David LaCombe and wife Evone of Willows, Calif., Kenneth Smith, Jr. and wife Amanda of Bay City, Texas, Kimberlee Smith Dugey and husband Theodore “Trey” of Houston, Texas, Karen M. Smith and husband Mustafa Zughaid of Houston, Texas, Kristy Smith DeFord and her husband Zac of Clear Lake, Texas, and Lieutenant Colonel James LaCmbe of Oahu, Hawaii; her siblings, James Welton “Steve” Havenar, Jr. and wife Jennie of Lafayette and Carolyn Ruth Havenar of Houston, Texas; her grandchildren, Lauren Francis, Ryan Hodges, Chantele LaCombe, Kevin LaCombe, Kendall Lacombe, Amber Carrillos, Alexis Garcia, Anthony Garcia, Alex Smith, Travis Dugey, Taylor Renee Dugey, Justin Todd LaCombe, Jimmy Neidig, Jayden LaCombe, Parker LaCombe and Chloe LaCombe, along with numerous great-grandchildren.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, James W. And Mayola Havenar, and her siblings Joyce Zierdt, and Walter Delbert Havenar (Uncle Jerry).
