Betty Lou Doucet Verret
LAFAYETTE — Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Lou Doucet Verret were held on Thursday, May 25, 2023, in the chapel of Matthews and Son Funeral Home in
Jennings. Visitation was held until the time of service.
Interment will follow the services in the Mermentau Cemetery.
Betty Lou was born in Mermentau in 1932 to Pierre Doucet and Agnes Q. Doucet. She was a former parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She married Melvin Verret and moved to Lafayette where she resided for over 70 years. There she became an active parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and dedicated her service to teaching Catechism. In her spare time, Betty loved to sew and enjoyed watching TV and being with her family.
Betty is survived by her only son, Keith Bryan Verret of Lafayette and two sisters, Joyce Chapman and Annie Thibodeaux, both of Jennings.
She is preceded in death by her parents Pierre and Agnes Doucet; brothers Carley Doucet, Ray Doucet, Claude Doucet and Frenchie Doucet; and one sister, Hilda Schoolfield.
