Esther Mae Bourque Boone Clement
JENNINGS — The family and friends of Esther Mae Bourque Boone Clement are mourning the loss of their mother, grandmother, great grandmother, greatgreat grandmother, sister, and friend, who was called from this life on June 14, 2023, at the age of 93.
Esther was born on February 1, 1930, to Esta Bourque and Lelia Broussard Bourque. Esther was a homemaker who dedicated her life to the care of her family, which she adored, and also a grocery store owner. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church, as well as a member of the Catholic Daughters and Ladies Altar Society for many years. In her younger years, she was a substitute teacher for Acadia Parish School Board, cashier at Winn Dixie and A & P in Crowley. She took great pride in taking care of her yard and loved gardening. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Esther was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Esther is survived by her children, Oran Boone Jr. (Linda) of Evangeline, Janice LeJeune of Iota; her five grandchildren, Roxanne Touchet (Ray), Brian LaSage (Michelle), Chris LaSage (Nancy), Chad Boone and Stacy Grant; her 10 great grandchildren, her 14 great-great grandchildren, and four more on the way; her sisters, Mildred “Midge” Falke of Deridder and Gloria Vincent; and her brother, Emery Bourque of Moss Bluff.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Esta and Lelia Bourque; her first husband, Oran “Red” Boone, Sr. and her former spouse, Hubert Clement, Sr.; her brothers, Thomas Jesse Bourque, Wallace Joseph Bourque and James Norris Bourque; and her infant sister, Joanne Bourque.
A Mass of Christian Burial to honor Esther’s life will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Evangeline on Monday, June 19 at 3 p.m. with Father Paul LaFleur officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Monday, June 19 from 9 a.m. until the time of her funeral mass at 3 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 1:30 p.m. led by the Catholic Daughters.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the kind and compassionate nursing staff at Lamm Hospice and their nurse, Kristen LeJeune for the exceptional care given to our Mom in her final days.
