Lois Leger Bourgeois

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mowata for Lois Leger Bourgeois, 85, who passed away November 9, 2023, at Encore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Crowley.

Fr. Samuel Fontana, pastor of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice officiated for the services. The family requested visiting hours to be held Sunday from 4-8 p.m. and Monday from 8-10:30 a.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home. A rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Sunday. Interment was in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Mowata.

Lois is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Toepfer of Eunice and Christine Diaz and her husband William of Breaux Bridge; three sons, Roderick Bourgeois and his wife Renee of Jennings, Darrell Bourgeois and his wife Gwen of Lake Charles and Randall Bourgeois and his wife Natalie of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister, Mary Fontenot of Tyler, Texas; one brother, Newton Leger, Jr.; thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alphonse Bourgeois; her parents, Newton and Rose Ancelet Leger, Sr.; one sister, Mae Rose Guy; one brother, Woodrow Leger and her son -in-law, Darrel Toepfer.
