JENNINGS — The family of Alcide Braxon Mallett, 5, of Jennings, announce his passing on November 22, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services for Alcide were held on Friday November 24, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., in the Miguez Funeral Home South Chapel. Visitation began Friday morning at 9 a.m. and continued until the time of service at 1 p.m. He was laid to rest in Duhon Cemetery in Mermentau.
Alcide came into the world fighting on September 28, 2018. He was born facing challenges most people would never experience. From the time he was born, he had a fire to him; he fought every step of the way. He persevered through so many obstacles battling health issue after issue. He loved watching his brother and sister play, the louder the better. He also loved fighting with his nurses. When he would have a slow day, he liked making his nurses work, anything he could to give them a good scare. He loved aquatic life and nature; he would fall asleep watching his sea life tapestry and his forest tapestry when he wasn't watching his Disney shows on TV.
He fought for five years until he couldn't fight anymore. He was called home to be with both his pawpaws and watch over all of us. He fought for so long, now he can rest and watch over us like we have done for him. He is no longer hurting; he is home and he is at peace. He may not have had a long life, but he had a full life. His life was full of love given to him by his family and his nurses who loved him just as much and just as hard as his family. Everyone who has ever laid eyes on him immediately fell in love. He has touched so many hearts in his life, leaving his mark on this world, he will never be forgotten and will always be loved and missed.
Left to cherish his precious memories are his dad, Blake Mallett (Bradley Gibbs); mom, Amanda (Cody) Thompson; sister, Allyriah Mallett; brother, Alaric “Ric” Mallett; paternal grandmother, Brenda Mallett; maternal grandmother Marium Thompson; aunts and uncles, Johnny and Denise Navarre, Jason and Falisha LeJeune, Ervin and Theresa LeJeune, Nick and Brandi Mallett, Joe and April Mallett, Tracey LeJeune, and Brenda Mallett; numerous great aunts and uncles and numerous cousins.
He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Eugene Mallett and Eugene Kershaw The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to his nurses, AnnMarie Berry, Chantel Kerley and Sharon White, for all the love and care they have given to Alcide over the years.
