Mrs. Leona retired after working for Cassidy and Millican Law Firm, then as a deputy clerk of court in Jeff Davis Parish. She was an avid reader and loved a good mystery. She enjoyed watching baseball games, and cheered for the New York Yankees, like her father had. She was an active member of Ladies Altar Society and Catholic Daughters and faithfully attended a rosary group of dear friends.
Leona will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Leona is survived by her daughter, Tina Mayeux of Lafayette, her son Nick Mayeux (Patti) of Youngsville and her son-in-law, Nolan Miller, along with six grandchildren: Katherine Miller (Christopher), Matthew Miller, Tyler Mayeux-Picard (Richard Picard), Caleb, Amanda and Nick Sistrunk and six great grandchildren, Joseph Ulicny, MD (Jamie), Alex Slaydon (Amelie-Claire), Morgan Miller, Sarah Ulicny, Awan Brooks (Picard) and Leona Esponera.
Mrs. Leona was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Jerry James Mayeux; their daughter, Karen Miller, her parents, Gerald and Leona Bourg Latour, her sisters Lucy Audrey Beissenberger, Beverly Maison, Genevieve “Genny” Howerton, Geraldine “Peewee” Fontenot and brother Arthur “Buddy” Latour.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Hospice of Acadian for their wonderful care of Mrs. Leona and to the many friends and family members whose prayers, calls, visits and cards meant so much.
