Alice L. New, 92, of Swansea, Ill., born Sept. 6, 1932 in Lake Charles, passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Alice graduated from Jennings High School. She also attended Oklahoma State University. As a homemaker, Alice loved raising her children and keeping a beautiful home.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Lt. Col. Guy E. New, whom she married on June 2, 1951 and who died on March 4, 2011; a son, Charles S. New; her parents, Arthur R. and Grace E., nee Thomas, Green; a brother, Jerry M. Green; a grandson, Richard Thomas New; her half-brother, Jerry R. Green; a son-in-law, John L. Loesche; her foster parents, David Thomas and Jacqueline Thomas and their daughter, Johnnie R. Thomas Blanchard.

Surviving are her three children and daughter-inlaw, Guy T. (Terrie) New of San Antonio, Texas, Wanda New of Fairhope, Ala., Jacqueline New Loesche (Bart Bergkoetter) of Belleville, Ill., and Jon “Mike” (Kathy) New of Demopolis, Ala.; three grandchildren, Guy C. New, Alice Elizabeth New, and J. Tyler (Lisa) Loesche; three great-grandchildren, Liam A. New, Laurie L. and Levi T. Loesche; and many dear nieces and nephews.

Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
