Natalie Yvonne Mitchell was born on November 30, 1961 to the union of Ruby-Goffney and the late Richard Goffney in Kingsville, Texas. Natalie received her elementary and secondary education in San Diego, Calif.
A celebration of life will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 4 at Immanuel Worship Center, 8074 La. 26 in Jennings.
She moved to Lafayette in 1995 and finally settled in Jennings in 1997. Natalie actively engaged in community efforts with the Jeff Davis Business and Community Coalition, championing nonviolence and supporting foundations that assisted students in pursuing higher education.
She dedicated 26 years to Wal-Mart, where she fostered many of her lifelong friendships. While at Wal-Mart, she worked in various departments, held several titles and earned credit hours through Bellevue University that awarded her a Certificate of Completion for People and Business Leadership.
For 27 years, she was a faithful member of Immanuel Worship Center and served as the church secretary. Her warm smile, compassionate heart and loving nature endeared her to everyone she encountered.
She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Ruby Goffney of DeQuincy and her adopted father, Huey Mitchell Sr of Gilmore, Texas; one daughter, Kellie (Rodney) Williams of Ragley; two sons, Brandon Washington of Reeves and Nicholas (Lanie) Robinson of Jennings; five brothers, Troy Goffney, Jeffrey Goffney, Gregory Goffney, Norman Goffney and Huey (Gretchen) Mitchell Jr.; 10 grandchildren, Rodney Williams Jr., Nyla Williams, Kiahna Biggsby, Nehemiah Williams, Jaidyne Washington, Jaylen Hollis, Brandon Washington Jr., Ezekiel Robinson, Carter Washington and Silas Robinson; one Godchild, Danica Nash; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
On Dec. 22, 2024, she answered the call of her Lord and Savior. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Goffney, her adopted mother, Ruthie Lee Harrison and her brother, Richard Goffney, Jr. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and cherished memories.
Mortuary Center of Southwest Louisiana has been entrusted to handle services.
