It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Roger Dale Fontenot of Lake Arthur.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Roger will be held on Monday January 6, 2025, at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Iowa, beginning at 1 p.m., with Reverand Anthony Fontenot officiating. A private gravesidewill be held in Grand Lake Cemetery.

A gathering of friends and family will be held at Miguez Funeral Home in Lake Arthur on Sunday January 5, 2025, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m., in the chapel.

Visitation will resume on Monday from 8 a.m. until 11:45 a.m., which will be the time to depart for church.

Roger was born on January 11, 1947, in Kinder to Wilfred and Anna Mae Fontenot.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, Roger proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He attended La-Grange High School and Sowela Technical Institute. Roger retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 2003 as a lock operator at the Calcasieu Locks.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kim Broussard Fontenot of Lake Arthur and his children, Anthony Fontenot, Angie Fontenot, Melissa Fontenot, Ben Fontenot, Mandi (Brent) Jones and Craig (Heather) Vincent. Roger was grandfather to Amber, Rebecca, Cody, Destiney, Cameron, Tristan, Alayna, Audrey and Alex; siblings, Patsy Abshire, Eva ( James) Dupuy and Mark (Pat) Fontenot; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Larry Fontenot; as well as his first wife, Sybil Marcantel Fontenot.

Special thanks for the care provided by Heart of Hospice of Lake Charles, Leading Home Care of Lake Charles and the VA's Home-Based Primary Care Team. We will be forever grateful to all of them.

Pallbearers are Ben Fontenot, Mark Fontenot, Brent Jones, Craig Vincent, Robert Abshire and John Dyer. Honorary Pallbearers are Cameron Jones and Tristan Jones.
