Lady Pios cruise past LA
CROWLEY - It was a tough day at the office for the Lake Arthur Lady Tigers Tuesday in their District 6-2A matchup with league favorite Notre Dame.
The Lady Pios belted out 17 hits, including three straight home runs in the first inning, and cruised to a 24-4 victory in a game that was halted after the third inning due to the mercy rule.
The Lady Tigers (4-6, 1-2) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first innings when Deonna Brister, who reached base on a fielder’s choice, scored on a ground out by Miya Breaux.
The lead was short lived.
Notre Dame sent 16 batters to the plate in the bottom of the frame and plated 13 runs on nine hits, four errors and one walk.
The Lady Pios added 11 more runs in the bottom of the second inning one eight more hits and another error.
Lake Arthur’s five miscues in the field led to 10 unearned runs by the Lady Pios.
The Lady Tigers pushed across their final three runs in the top of the third inning thanks to a wild pitch and a two-run single by Lauren Hebert.
Kallie Broussard had two of the Lady Tigers five hits on the day. Jamara Levy and Hebert each had one hit.
