Pricilla Pearl ‘Patsy’ Parsley Black
Funeral services for Mrs. Pricilla Pearl “Patsy” Parsley Black, 78, of Lafayette were held on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 10 a.m. in Evangeline at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Paul LaFleur officiating.
Visitation for Mrs. Black were held on Friday, July 20, 2018 from 3:30-9 p.m. in Miguez Funeral Home Chapel. A rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Friday evening. Visitation resumed Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Mrs. Black was the eighth of 11 children born to Henry and Alamonde Parsley. After graduating from Iota High School in 1957, she attended beauty school. Mrs. Black worked as a beautician for many years. She was a former Opelousas Yambilee Queen for festival year 1961. Mrs. Black took great pride in her appearance, always having her hair fixed and makeup and nails done. Her niece Christine refers to her as a world-class cook. She not only loved to cook, but her expertise in the kitchen won her many cooking contests. She enjoyed playing video poker. She also loved to visit and talk. Mrs. Black followed her husband Donald as he worked all over the world in the oilfield for 30 years.
Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Alamonde Hebert Parsley.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband Donald Black of Lafayette; a daughter, Sheree (Keith) Black Boardman of New Iberia; and a brother, Kelly Parsley of Evangeline.
