Johnnie ‘B’ Briggs-Green
Funeral services for Mrs. Johnnie “B” Briggs-Green, 93, will be held at 11 a.m Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, at Mt. Triumph Baptist Church, 219 EGC Chaney St. in Jennings. Reverend C. James Fontenot, pastor, will officiate and Reverend Carl M. Fontenot, Sr., will be the eulogist.
Visitation will be held in the church from 9 a.m. until time of the funeral.
Burial will be in Peterson Cemetery under the direction of Semien-Lewis Mortuary of Jennings.
Mrs. Johnnie Briggs-Green, affectionately known as Johnnie “B,” passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, while surrounded by her loving family at Camelot-Brookside in Jennings. She was a native and lifelong resident of Jennings. She was born on March 26, 1925, to Willie Henry and Zenobia Etheridge-Henry. She was educated in the Jeff Davis Parish School System and later attended cosmetology school in New Orleans and became a licensed beautician. She also worked as a homemaker for the Caraway, Hoag and McNeally families in Jennings.
She was a faithful member of Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Jennings, where she served as a Deaconess, former Sunday School Superintendent, member of the Mission and was the Mother of the Church.
She is survived by three sons, Arnell Briggs of Las Vegas, Nev., and Elliott Briggs and Kenneth Briggs, Sr., both of Jennings; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her memories will be cherished by her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Zenobia Henry; one son, Benton Ray Briggs; one grandson, Chance D. Stewart; and two sisters, Madeline Anderson and Norma Ned.
