Despite the office being closed to the public due to COVID-19, voters can still request mail ballots and receive assistance by phone.

Bethel Church in Jennings held a prayer vigil Wednesday night at Jennings American Legion Hospital. People lined up in their cars to pray and show support for the hospital employees on the front lines of COVID-19. Attendees sang the worship song “Waymaker” and hands were lifted up from vehicles.

As of press time Thursday, 30 cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed within Jeff Davis Parish with two deaths. According to the Louisiana Department of Health, 573 parish residents have been tested for the virus.
