During the May meeting of Knights of Columbus Council 2012 from Our Lady Help of Christians (OLHC) Parish in Jennings Grand Knight Carl Benoit recognized the family of Joel and Donna Richert (pictured) as the Council’s Family of the Month for April 2020.Joel has been a Knight since December of 1969, and he is a Third Degree Knight who has achieved Honorary Life Member status in the Order. The Richerts are, without a doubt, two of most active supporters and workers within OLHC Parish. Joel has always bought or sold tickets for all of the KC money making activities and projects. He has helped assemble the meals for the barbecue fundraisers. He has also served on the Telephone Committee, calling Brother Knights and reminding them to submit their barbecue ticket money. He has also helped the KC’s many times to collect donations during the annual Tootsie Roll drive to raise money to support projects which benefit God’s Special Angels. Joel is the Council’s Advocate. He served for many years as chairman of the Council’s Youth Activities Committee, and he continues to play the major role in selecting the annual Catholic Youth Leadership Award winners from the Council. He has also enthusiastically supported the annual KC Council Swim Party. Donna was a superb career educator who spent most of her time at Our Lady Immaculate School. She is currently a valued volunteer for Caring Hands here in Jennings, providing muchneeded assistance to the least fortunate of the community. She is also an active contributing member of the Catholic Daughters of America (CDA). Donna is also a valued associate with the Jennings American Legion Hospital Auxiliary, where she is a past Volunteer of the Month. Joel and Donna are also members of the OLHC Parish Social Committee and have played major roles in Parish picnics and luncheons. They have also served on the American Legion 7th District Educator of the Year Selection Committee, lending significant expertise to the process. This family has truly proved to be valuable and important members of Our Lady Help of Christians Church and the Knights of Columbus.
