(AP) - The Chinese government is taking draconian measures to slash birth rates among Uighurs and other minorities as part of a sweeping campaign to curb its Muslim population, even as it encourages some of the country’s Han majority to have more children.

Residents at all five of Louisiana’s veterans homes, including Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home (SWLVH) here in Jennings, have had no in-person visitation with their families or loved ones since mid-March, when the coronavirus pandemic first began shutting down the state. Recently, several families have asked about an update to the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs’ (LDVA) visitation policy.
