The Jennings Softball team celebrated Senior Night with a win over district rival Westlake Thursday. The Lady Dogs took a 9-0 lead and went on to win 16-1 in four innings.

Hounds make quick work of Mamou

WELSH – The Welsh Greyhounds dropped the hammer on the Mamou Green Demons here at Sportsman’s Park by winning a mercy-rule contest by a count of 13-0. The win upped the Hounds overall record to 7-13 as they continue to push towards the Class 2A playoffs. The Hounds used a huge 10-run fourth inning to slam the door on the visiting Demons, while Jode Janise was the story of the game on the mound for Welsh. The right-hander fired five innings and only allowed two hits in completing the shutout. He also struck out three in the win.

Beard, Roy united in marriage

I’m half Cajun, me

from Nova Scotia in the late 1700s and early 1800s to Louisiana (Church Point to be exact), were mostly rag tag dirt poor farmers in a strange land. No one spoke their language and their children and grandchildren were not allowed to speak it when they went to school. History has revealed that Cajuns were considered the lowest class/ethnicity of the white race without exception. They were spit on. They were made fun of and called names.
