It started as one of those ridiculous controversies of the Trump era. In May and June 2017, then-President Donald Trump blocked a few Twitter trolls who were criticizing his tweets. The next month, those trolls, backed by Columbia University’s Knight First Amendment Institute, sued the president, alleging that blocking them on Twitter violated the First Amendment.

WASHINGTON – On March 25, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-La) called on the Small Business Administration (SBA) to open an investigation into Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans awarded to Planned Parenthood affiliates. This week he penned a letter to the editor published in the Houma Courier explaining his inquiry and reiterating the call for an investigation.

LA passes proclamations for April

Lady Cards drop pair to Bell City

GRAND LAKE – The Lacassine Lady Cardinals softball team had a rough go of it Wednesday as the Bell City Bruins swept both ends of a district doubleheader. The pair of wins allowed the Bruins to ultimately claim the 7-B title. Bell City claimed a 6-4 win in the first contest then came from behind to win the second one by a count of 10-3. Lacassine fell to 11-10 overall, and will have another shot at the Bruins today at home.

LSU women’s golf wins Tiger Golf Classic

BATON ROUGE – The No. 4 LSU women’s golf team won the LSU Tiger Golf Classic with a 54-hole score of 12-under 852, Wednesday at the University Club Golf Course.

Clark named Region 1 Coach of the Year

BATON ROUGE – LSU Gymnastics head coach Jay Cark has been named the Region 1 Coach of the Year, the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) announced Wednesday.
