Anthony joins LeBron with title the only goal

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Carmelo Anthony realized the time was finally right to join forces with his friend LeBron James.

Whether James and the veteranled Los Angeles Lakers can help Anthony win his first NBA championship remains to be seen.

“Most people will say we should have gotten together years ago, early in our career, but we were on two different paths. It just felt like right now was the best time,” Anthony said.

Saints kicker Lutz having surgery for core muscle injury

METAIRIE, La. (AP) — Saints kicker Wil Lutz has scheduled surgery to a repair a core muscle injury and it’s unclear if he’ll return in time for the regular season.

New Orleans signed former Dallas Cowboys kicker Brett Maher to fill in, Maher’s agent, Derrick Fox, told The Associated Press on Monday evening.

Lutz announced his procedure with a post on social media and Saints coach Sean Payton said the team would need a replacement “at least” for the preseason.

Daniel “Dan” Singley Welch, Sr., 80, passed away on Aug. 2,2021 in Pensacola, Fla.

Dan was born March 14, 1941, in Richton, Miss. He attended Jennings High School and the Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Mo.

Dan and Clara Alice Low Welch, the love of his life for 49 years (married Feb. 25, 1972) are members of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Huntsville, Texas.
