‘The Big Three’ strike again

KAPLAN – The Lake Arthur Lady Tigers kept their win streak alive by pounding the Kaplan Pirates for the second tine this week. “The Big Three” of Kali Hornsby, Vivian Sketoe and Darrah Broussard combined for 51 of the Lady Tigers’ 62 points in their dominating 62-17 victory. With the win, The No.5 Lady Tigers up their record to 11-4 overall. The Tigers did battle with the Grand Lake Lady Hornets Tuesday night in a non-district tilt at “Nookie” Moore Gymnasium.

LACASSINE – After defeating Starks High School by nearly 50 points in a previous tournament, the Panthers rolled into Lacassine with upset on their minds. However, the No.5-ranked Lacassine Cardinals (LHS) had other plans, and fended off the feisty Panthers by a final of 56-54.

No.2 Lady Hornets demolish Dragons 85-26

IOWA – The No.2 Hathaway Hornets placed four players in double figures in an 85-26 blowout win over the DeRidder Lady Dragons at the Iowa Mallet Builders Tournament over the weekend to move to 17-1. In the finals however, the Lady Hornets would suffer their second loss of the season to the Barbe Lady Bucs.

Levi, Boese lead Tigers over Rebels 46-34

MIDLAND – The No. 10-ranked Lake Arthur Tigers bounced back from a loss to Barbe in the Midland Holiday Spectacular by defeating the host Rebels by a final of 46-34. It was the second time in the early season that the Tigers have defeated the Rebels, and improved their overall record to 5-3. In what was a low-scoring affair, the Tigers rode the scoring of Ray Levi and Kenyon Boese, who combined for 34 of the Tigers’ 46 points.

Second-half rally propels Lady Dogs over Midland

MIDLAND – The No.5-ranked Jennings Lady Bulldogs finished off the Midland Holiday Spectacular in style on Saturday as they toppled the host Midland Lady Rebels by a final of 54-42. With yet another win, Jennings upped their overall mark to 14-5 and concluded a good week with a dominating victory over 5A Barbe.
