A cyclone struck Mermentau about 2:30 Thursday afternoon. It last four or five minutes doing much damage. According to Mayor Harrington, four person were killed outright and one died last night from injuries received during the storm. Twenty-three were injured, several of whom it is thought will not live. It was necessary to send two of the injured to the hospital at New Orleans.
