During the May meeting of Knights of Columbus Council 2012 from Our Lady Help of Christians (OLHC) Parish in Jennings, Darrell Landry (left) was recognized as the Council’s Knight of the Month for April 2022. Past Grand Knight Glenn McFarlain presented the award. Darrell has been a Knight since January of 1987, and he is a 3rd Degree Knight who has achieved Honorary Life Member status in the Order. He is a Past Grand Knight and a Past Knight of the Year for the Council. When the Council conducts a fundraising or servicerelated activity, Darrell can always be counted on to do whatever it takes to make the activity a success. He has been one of the driving forces behind all the barbecue fundraisers conducted by the Council over the last 25 years. He has provided numerous delicious meals for the Council during monthly meetings. Darrell is a Vietnam era veteran of the United States Army who is very active in military veterans organizations here in Jennings. He is a past Commander of James O. Hall Post 19 of the American Legion, and he has served as the American Legion 7th District Area B Commander. He is also a charter member of the Post’s Honor Guard, which renders honors for deceased veterans throughout the area; they are truly a class act, performing, as of today, over 700 military protocols during the last 17 years. He is a past recipient of the M. C. “Mike” Gehr Blue Cap Award as the outstanding Legionnaire in the state of Louisiana among Legion members who have never held elective office above Post level. Darrell Landry has proven to be a credit to the Knights of Columbus and his community.
