TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Disney sued Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday over the Republican’s takeover of its theme park district, alleging the governor waged a “targeted campaign of government retaliation” after the company opposed a law critics call “Don’t Say Gay.”

Airlift brings used Christmas trees to rehab Louisiana marsh

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Used Christmas trees are helping to rebuild a Louisiana marsh as part of a Christmas tradition months after the holiday. National Guard helicopters airlifted the trees Wednesday to the Bayou Sauvage Urban National Wildlife Refuge. New Orleans officials and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service joined the effort to place the bundles of trees in water at the urban area wildlife refuge. New Orleans is among Louisiana communities that collect the trees shortly after Christmas annually. The trees are placed along Louisiana’s eroding coast to stop wave action and trap sediment to rebuild land.

Louisiana lawmakers advance increased criminal penalty bills

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — In Louisiana, a state that routinely reports one of the highest incarceration rates per-capita in the country, the Republican-controlled legislature is making a push to increase punishments for certain crimes.
