NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Retired pastor Rick Warren, author of the publishing phenomenon, 'The Purpose Driven Life,' has been intensifying a media blitz in what he acknowledges may be a lost cause. He is trying to get the Southern Baptist Convention to reverse its ouster of the California megachurch he founded, Saddleback Church, for having women pastors.

New magnet school in historically Black zone, a step to resolve 1965 desegregation suit

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Authorities in a southwest Louisiana school district have agreed to develop a magnet school in a historically Black school zone to draw students of all races from across the district in a step toward resolving a desegregation lawsuit dating back to 1965.

Jennings Bronco stars topple LA in finals, 4-2

The Jennings All-Star Bronco 12U Team defeated the Lake Arthur All-Stars 4-2 this past Sunday to finish the Crowley All-Star Warm Up Tournament at Tony Robichaux Sports Complex. Jennings and Lake Arthur both finished 3-0 in pool play and due to tiebreaker rules Lake Arthur went into Sunday’s championship as the No.1 seed. Jennings earned the No.2 seed Sunday morning with a 6-0 win over Kinder.
