Jennings Daily News (JDN) is patiently awaiting the arrival of the first baby born in 2024. Once the new bundle of joy makes its entrance and all 10 fingers and 10 toes have been counted, mom or dad should come forward and identify the first baby of the new year.

JENNINGS — It is with great sadness that the family of Stacie Latiola, 54, announce her passing from this life on Dec. 25, 2023 with family by her side at Calcutta House after her courageous fight. Stacie was born in Jennings to Larry Latiola and Sandra Miller Latiola on Nov. 6, 1969. Stacie loved spending time with her dog, Mia, who held a very special place in her heart, loved the outdoors and spending time with her family. Stacie was a kind and gentle soul who was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

The Our Lady Immaculate (OLI) Catholic School choir visited KLFY studios to record a few Christmas carols that were aired on Christmas day. The newly formed choir consists of 25 or so students -- mainly third and fourth-graders. OLI Choir Director Marlene Roche practiced as much as she could with the choir leading up to the recording at the Lafayette studio.
