The following letter, which has been addressed to several citizens of Jeff Davis Parish, as well as the new editor, by J. O. Modjsette, member of the Louisiana Library Commission, is self explanatory. It is hoped that the commission will receive the most sympathetic cooperation from the leaders and educators of the parish in making this initial demonstration a hugh success.

Jeff Davis Parish Police Jury recently created an advisory committee tasked with the important job of finding and selecting the parish’s first administrator, who will oversee and direct the parish government’s employees.

JDEC ANNOUNCES PLANNED OUTAGES

On Tuesday, Feb. 6, Jeff Davis Electric Coop’s (JDEC) transmission power provider will have a planned outage at the Derouen Substation for repairs on their equipment. The outage is scheduled to last from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will affect members in the Lacassine and Iowa areas. For more information, contact JDEC at 337-824-4330.

BARBECUE FUNDRAISER RESCHEDULED

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Jennings High School Class of 2026 barbecue fundraiser has been moved to Thursday, Feb. 8. Pick up will be at the high school, located at 2310 North Sherman St. in Jennings. Tickets are still available for $6 a piece and come with a barbecue burger and chips. All proceeds help fund prom and graduation activities.
