DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — An apparent Israeli drone attack on a major air base early near the central city of Isfahan activated Iranian air defenses early Friday. The strike came just days after Tehran’s unprecedented droneand- missile assault on Israel. Speaking at the G7 meeting in Capri, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said the U.S. received “lastminute” information from Israel about the attack on Isfahan. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken did not dispute that immediately after Tajani’s remarks, but said: “We were not involved in any offensive operations.”

1940- To accomodate patrons, especially housewives. the Strand Theatre, announced today that week- day shows would start promptly at 3 o’clock daily. “ The doors will open at 2: 45 p. m.” Billy Richardson, manager, stated. This will allow patrons time to see the afternoon performance and shop for their evening meal before the stores close in the afternoon.

Three teams earn playoff bids in baseball postseason

Three area baseball teams saw their names called when the 2024 LHSAA playoff brackets were released yesterday. Jennings, Welsh and Lacassine all received bids to postseason play, and games will kick off today. The three teams are vying for a trip to the LHSAA State Tournament in Sulphur in the beginning of May. Jennings will travel to open the playoffs, while both Welsh and Lacassine both received byes and will host a second round game.

Lake Arthur boys, girls claim District 5-2A meet

GRAND LAKE — The District 5-2A track meet was held Monday at Grand Lake High School. The two JDP teams in the district were Lake Arthur High School (LAHS) and Welsh High School (WHS).

Mosquito abatement begins prevention efforts
