COMMUNITY CALENDAR

Calendar Guidelines Items for Community Calendar must be submitted during regular weekday business hours at least two weeks prior to the day of the event. Events run in the order of their posted dates and ONLY AS SPACE ALLOWS. Events more than two weeks away may not run until closer to the event. Community Calendar is offered as a public service bulletin for Jeff Davis Parish community and nonprofit events. Send entries to editor@jenningsdailynews. net.

JHS honors Platinum students

Jennings High School recently honored its top 10 Platinum TTA seniors at awards day. Carli Ardoin, Jenna Broussard, Brynn Fullilove, Ardyn Jardell, Alyssa Kerley, Kaide LeJeune, Michael O’Brien, Aimee Richard, Dane Sonnier and Andyn Grace Zammit were recipients of the award.

As my cousin read aloud our Grandmother’ s Brunswick Stew recipe, I enjoyed all the imagery it evoked, not to mention the aromatic recollection of that stew which was prepared with chicken, pork, tomatoes and corn in a turnof- the-century kitchen that always smelled heavenly.

Volunteer organization donates to local 4-H

Trailblazers Club of Volunteers for Family and Community, a non-profit organization, recently donated $500 to the Jeff Davis Parish 4-H Foundation. VFC is made up of two area groups — Domestic Divas and Trailblazers. VFC members attend conference

Parish shooting sports group receives award from NRA

The National Rifle Association Foundation recently awarded Jeff Davis Parish 4-H with a grant of $3,328.24 to fund clay targets, 12-gauge shotgun shells and 20-gauge shotgun shells for its shooting sports team.
