Parish student wins 4-H scholarship

Each year, Louisiana 4-H awards over 30 scholarships to graduating seniors throughout the state. Recipients must complete an extensive application consisting of project, leadership, citizenship and community service experience and 4-H honors and recognition, along with outside 4-H experiences and an impact-focused narrative. The scholarship winner from Jeff Davis Parish was Camille Sonnier from Lacassine High School. She was awarded the Faul Family Scholarship for $1,000.

TIt’s the time of year when Star Wars fans from across the galaxy gather to celebrate May the 4th, also known as Star Wars Day. Inspired by the iconic catchphrase uttered in the first film of the Skywalker Saga, Star Wars: A New Hope, May the 4th has grown in size and enthusiasm over the years. Fans who don’t want to limit the Star Wars celebrations can keep the festivities going all month long.

Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser recently appointed Sulphur businessman Stuart Moss to serve on the Louisiana Board of Commerce and Industry. Moss served the previous four years on the board as an appointee of the governor’s office.
