Holy pineapple

For Christmas, I was the recipient of a pineapple planter. It is a decorative ceramic piece--all white--which looks like the round part of a pineapple with an open top for whatever plant you choose to add, and a drainage hole in the bottom.

The Genealogical Society of Jennings members, including President of Southwest Louisiana (SWLA) Genealogical Society Roxie Guilbeau, Phyllis Prejean, Flo McNally, Darlene Soule and Mona Lasher, met for a Saturday morning research session at Jennings First Baptist Church. Following the research meeting, the society held its annual kick-off meeting. The group meets on the second Saturday of each month at the Jeff Davis Parish Arts and Technology Center in Jennings and is open to anyone who is interested in genealogy. LFRW meeting held

The Louisiana Federation of Republican Women (LFRW) recently held a meeting where LFRW President Roby Dyer (right) swore in Treasurer Frances Byler (from left), Secretary Mamsie Mallet, Vice-President Rochelle Sittig and President Mary Landry. The Federation is the largest volunteer women’s political organization in the state, with more than 1,800 members in 35 locations.
