Items for Community Calendar must be submitted during regular weekday business hours at least two weeks prior to the day of the event. Events run in the order of their posted dates and ONLY AS SPACE ALLOWS. Events more than two weeks away may not run until closer to the event. Community Calendar is offered as a public service bulletin for Jeff Davis Parish community and nonprofit events. Send entries to editor@jenningsdailynews. net. KCs receive award

Knights of Columbus (KC) Council 2012 was awarded Star Council for 2022-2023 by Supreme Council. Star Awards recognize outstanding achievement in membership, insurance, programming and overall operations. Earning a Star Award is the marker of a high preforming KC unit and the goal to which every council, district and assembly should strive. Star Council, Star District and Star Assembly awards can be earned by completing criteria designed specifically for each division of the KCs. Past District Deputy Carl Benoit (Left) presents the Star Council Award to KC Council 2012 Grand Knight Frank Angelle.

Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, located at 710 State St. and Father Keith Pellerin (left) were awarded Garden of the Month for October. Additionally, the home of Eric Busk (below) and Erin Miller was named the residential Garden of the Month for October. Theses honors are given by the Jennings Garden Club.

KC Soccer Challenge

The Knights of Columbus Council 2012 recently held its annal Youth Soccer Challenge. The event provides an athletic outlet for young people ages 9-14 through a penalty kick competition designed to determine their skills.
