Hounds dismantle Rams, 29-12 to move to 1-0

WESTLAKE — The Welsh Greyhounds unveiled a stifling defense and a balanced offense here Friday night, as they took down the Westlake Rams by a 29-12 score in a non-district clash. The contest was the first of the year for the Hounds, while the Rams drop to 1-1 with the loss. The Greyhound defense limited a potent Westlake offense to just 53 yards rushing and an even 100 yards through the air.

Tigers pull away to top Mamou in second half, 32-14

MAMOU – The Lake Arthur Tigers shook off a rough start Friday night, and used a huge second half to pull away from the Mamou Green Demons by a final of 32-14 on the Cajun Prairie. The Tigers trailed 14-9 going into the intermission, but rallied back for 23 unanswered points in the second half to claim their first victory of the season. The Tigers will now return home to face Jeanerette in their annual Homecoming contest to be held at Jack Doland Stadium Friday night at 7 p.m.

When the Jennings Bulldogs and Eunice Bobcats usually meet up, there isn’t a whole lot of passing that takes place. However, the times are definitely changing as the guests from St. Landry Parish tossed four scoring passes en route to a 39-14 triumph over the Bulldogs at Jerry Simmons Stadium. The loss drops the Dogs to 0-2 on the season, while the Cats improved to 1-1. Jennings will hit the road to start a 3-game road swing next week when they travel to square off with the 4A DeRidder Dragons. The Dragons are 1-1 on the season after being blasted 50-6 by the Many Tigers Friday night.

Green Demons Fall to LA 32-14

The Lake Arthur Tigers broke into the win column Friday night by toppling the Mamou Green Demons by a final of 32-14. The Tigers broke open a close game by scoring 23 unanswered points in the second half. Lake Arthur will have their home opener Friday night for Homecoming at Jack Doland Stadium when they welcome in Jeanerette.
