Steelers rally behind Haskins to beat Eagles 24-16

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Dwayne Haskins got advice from his QB coach to play like a jazz player. Smooth.

“Jazz is real smooth. The blues. You bop your head, snap your fingers,” Haskins said.

Haskins hit all the right notes in his push for the backup quarterback spot, throwing for 161 yards and a touchdown to lead the Pittsburgh Steelers to a 24-16 win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night.

Wade’s three-run homer leads Giants to fifth straight win

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The San Francisco Giants are going so well their starting pitchers are becoming regular producers at the plate. Logan Webb thought he might even have his first career home run to show for his stellar evening, settling for a bases-loaded single that brought home two runs in a big inning.

“I wish it did go out, though,” Webb said, smiling, noting everybody keeps telling him he’ll clear the fences soon enough — with some advice: “Hit the weight room.”

Etienne drops Top 5 as recruiting battles wage on

For the past two seasons, college coaches all over the country have followed and recruited Jennings High 4-star running back Trevor Etienne. This week, Etienne announced the Top 5 schools that he is considering. With offers from all over the country, Etienne released an SEC-heavy list, with the exception of one school extremely familiar to the family. Making his list was LSU, Alabama, Clemson, Florida and Georgia. Etienne’s older brother Travis Jr. recently wrapped up an astounding 4-year career at Clemson, and is entering his first season in the NFL with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
