La. men arrested for stealing, killing water buffalo

BELLE CHASSE, La. (AP) — Four Louisiana men were arrested on allegations they stole, shot and killed two Asian water buffalo owned by a local rancher, the state agriculture department said.

Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain said the suspects harvested the meat, hide and heads of the buffalo, worth an estimated $10,000, that were stolen in Plaquemines Parish.

Another charging option opens in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE (AP) — A south Louisiana city’s first community electric vehicle charging station has been installed.

The Advocate reports the new station is located in downtown Lafayette.

The charging station was installed through the efforts of Bayou Electric Vehicles, Alliance for Affordable Energy, Lafayette Public Trust Financing Authority, JEH Solar, Toce Financial and donations from 25 contributors through a GoFundMe campaign, said Jeff LeBlanc, of Bayou Electric Vehicles.

EVANGELINE - Funeral services for Mr. James Arthur “Doodle” Guthrie, Jr., 77, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019, in Hope Church in Evangeline, with Bro. Thomas Patterson officiating.

Visitation will be held in Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings from 10:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, and will continue Thursday at the church from 8 a.m. until time of services.

Burial will be in Bon Pasteur Cemetery in Welsh.

Mr. Guthrie passed away at 4:40 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019, in Harbor Hospice.
