UK leader: Royal rift over Harry-Meghan plans can be settled

LONDON (AP) — British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Tuesday he believes the royal family can resolve a serious rift over the plans of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, who want to break free of their royal roles and move to Canada.

The plans of Harry and Meghan, also known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have received tentative approval from Queen Elizabeth II, who said she and other senior royals regret the decision but understand and respect it.

Four new Jeff Davis Police Jurors were sworn in at a meeting Monday evening including the first female police juror in the history of the parish.

Newcomers District 4 Juror Kori Myers, along with District 5 Juror Tim McKnight, District 12 Juror Owen Cormier and District 13 Juror Chad Talbot all took their new seats on the parish governing authority.

Myers is the first woman to be elected to serve in the role in the history of the parish.

Sources: Clerk suspected of tipping off suspect

Sources close to an investigation told Jennings Daily News that state and federal authorities suspected a courthouse clerk had tipped off a federal suspect so he could avoid arrest.

According to the information provided to the newspaper, late last year FBI agents arrived at the 31st Judicial District Courthouse to serve a federal arrest warrant on an individual. However, after the suspect did not arrive at the courthouse, law enforcement expressed concerns that a clerk had contacted the suspect to advise him against coming in.

Guidry to serve as victim’s advocate

LAKE ARTHUR - The council here has voted to add a Victim’s Advocate Program to the many services already provided by the town’s police department. Victims of domestic abuse, sexual assault or rape will now have someone to stand by them during such difficult times.

Communities Against Domestic Abuse (CADA) Director Lacey Guidry was recently appointed as the victim’s advocate.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Clyde Edwards-Helaire took turns dancing around defenders or churning his legs as he pushed his compact frame through tacklers for extra yards and pivotal first downs.

Thaddeus Moss was a productive red-zone target, catching two short touchdown passes. And Terrace Marshall Jr. made his last of three catches count, rising up in tight coverage for a touchdown catch that put Clemson in a three-score hole.

Clemson defense, Lawrence falter as LSU rolls to championship

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Clemson relied all year on a strong defense and quarterback Trevor Lawrence to give itself a shot at a second straight national title.

Both let them down against LSU and Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Joe Burrow.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve stood in front a team with a loss,” Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said after LSU’s 42-25 win Monday night.

Some criminals lie on the telephone to get your personal information. They may lie about who they are, claiming that they’re from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) or Social Security Office.

According to the Louisiana Public Service Commission (LPSC), three things you should never give out over the phone are your social security number, your bank or credit card numbers and your driver’s license number.

The U.S. Constitution requires a census every 10 years since. The census has been taking place since 1790, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Every 10 years, the results of the census are used to reapportion the U.S. House of Representatives, determining how many seats each state gets.
