The Jennings Fire Department worked Monday to prepare sandbags for residents wanting to get ready for the heavy rainfall expected from Tropical Storm Nicholas.
WELSH — Behind the hard running of halfbacks Cohen Fontenot and Kennon LeGros, the Welsh Greyhounds matched their win total of 2020 with a 34-21 win over the visiting Vinton Lions. The Greyhounds move to 1-1 with the win. Welsh rushed for a staggering 492 yards in the battle, with Fontenot leading the way with 265 yards on 33 carries and four touchdowns, while LeGros blasted his way to 139 yards and one score on just 13 carries.
LAKE ARTHUR – The Lake Arthur Tigers opened up their 2021 football regular season by hosting the defending Class A state runner-up Grand Lake Hornets at Jack Doland Stadium last Friday evening. After receiving a forfeit win over Basile in week one due to Covid-19 battles, the Tigers dropped their contest with the Hornets by a count of 26-15.
