Alligator suspected in post-Ida attack captured

SLIDELL (AP) — A 12-foot-long alligator believed to have attacked a Louisiana man in Hurricane Ida floodwaters two weeks ago was captured and killed Monday, and authorities found human remains in its stomach.

HOUNDS RUSH PAST VINTON 34-21

WELSH — Behind the hard running of halfbacks Cohen Fontenot and Kennon LeGros, the Welsh Greyhounds matched their win total of 2020 with a 34-21 win over the visiting Vinton Lions. The Greyhounds move to 1-1 with the win. Welsh rushed for a staggering 492 yards in the battle, with Fontenot leading the way with 265 yards on 33 carries and four touchdowns, while LeGros blasted his way to 139 yards and one score on just 13 carries.

Tigers fall to Grand Lake 26-15 in opener

LAKE ARTHUR – The Lake Arthur Tigers opened up their 2021 football regular season by hosting the defending Class A state runner-up Grand Lake Hornets at Jack Doland Stadium last Friday evening. After receiving a forfeit win over Basile in week one due to Covid-19 battles, the Tigers dropped their contest with the Hornets by a count of 26-15.
