Jeff Davis Electric Co-op held a supply drive Saturday and met their goal of $1,000 and supplies, which will be donated to three other cooperatives in areas affected by Hurricane Ida. Brayden Hanks , 9, of Lake Arthur and Case Gaspard, 10, of Jennings help to gather donations.

ELTON — The Elton Indians are experiencing the growing pains that come with not having played football in 2020. While the Indians have looked good in some areas, that lack of experience has shown in other places. The numbers game has been hard also for the Elton, as the majority of their players seldom leave the field, even on special teams.
WELSH — The Welsh Greyhounds are coming off a last minute loss to rival Kinder, but have no time to dwell on the stinging loss. Welsh will host the Vinton Lions this week, and the Lions are looking to move to 2-0 following their convincing 54-19 win over the Elton Indians.
KINDER — ”It was a typical Welsh-Kinder game.” Those were the words of a relieved Yellow Jacket head coach Brett Fusilier. With 1:16 left in the contest, Kinder’s junior quarterback Graham Fawcett sneaked into the right corner of the end zone with a two-point conversion to hand the hosts a hardfought 29-28 win over the visiting Greyhounds. It was the passing game of the Yellow Jackets that proved to be the difference, as Kinder passed for 131 yards and ran for another 136.
Foo Fact of the Game: COVID issues prevented Leesville from playing in a scrimmage and jamboree. However, the Wampus Cats played well on defense andoffense with a new QB in his first game to lead Leesville to a 35-14 win.
