JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Amid a nursing shortage that is worsening poor health outcomes in Mississippi, nursing programs at the state’s public universities are turning away hundreds of potential students every year because of insufficient faculty sizes.

WELSH — Friday night the Welsh High Greyhounds (12-7) hosted the DeQuincy High Tigers (3-14) for a District V match. The action-packed basketball game kept the fans on their toes as the ball flew up down the court all night. The Greyhounds would be the winner when the fourth quarter buzzer sounded indicating the end of the game. The Hounds’ hustle would pay off as they cinched the District game win by a score of 77-60 moving them to 2-0.
