PERRY, Fla. (AP) — Tropical Storm Idalia descended on the Carolinas on its way out to the Atlantic Ocean on Thursday, leaving a trail of flooding and destruction in the Southeast stretching back to Florida, where it first roared ashore as a major hurricane.
The Jennings High School Bulldogs open the season tonight on their home turf, Jerry Simmons Stadium, against the Leesville High School Wampus Cats. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
BATON ROUGE — The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) would like to remind dove hunters that opening day shooting hours on LDWF private dove field leases and Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs) are the same as outside, one-half hour before sunrise to sunset. Dove season opens Saturday (Sept. 2).
JENNINGS — Audrey Mier Darcé, 87, a long-time resident of Jennings, died Aug. 28, 2023, at Calcutta House hospice in Lafayette, surrounded by her three children who had helped to care for her in recent years.
