WELSH — When it rains, it pours! That statement certainly seems to be “hounding” the Welsh Greyhounds thus far this season. By the end of the first quarter in their 55-27 loss to Westlake, the Hounds had five starters out with injuries. “It’s like a hospital zone here,” stated Welsh head coach Ronnie Courville. “We lost both of our H-backs in LaTroy Pattum and Carter Phelps in the first quarter. Phelps is also our starting linebacker, so that really hurt us also, as we don’t have any real depth to speak of. Then Luke Luntsford and Hayden vanNess also get hurt and Cameron Bouley was already out with a broken foot, so we are just kind of limping along having to play kids that really weren’t expecting to play this early.”
