Library, museum partner on cottage renovation plans

WELSH — With the Friends of the Welsh Museum set to receive a substantial grant that would allow the group to renovate and restore the former Welsh High School home economics cottage, the group is looking to partner with the Jeff Davis Parish Library to designate a purpose for the building.

LACASSINE — A local non-profit organization supporting domestic violence victims will soon be hosting its largest charity event of the year to help offset the costs of running its shelter. With October being designated as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Jeff Davis Communities Against Domestic Abuse (CADA) is preparing to host its annual Taste-n-Tell fundraiser at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at Bayou Rum Distillery and Event Center, located at 20909 Frontage Rd. in Lacassine. This will be CADA’s second year hosting the event at the new location.
