LAKE ARTHUR – The Lake Arthur Lady Tigers did what many teams have struggled to do over the years on Friday night, and that was to topple down perennial 2A power Lafayette Christian Academy (LCA). The No. 5 Lady Tigers took down the Division III No. 1 Lady Knights by a final of 63-55 in their 6-2A opener at “Nookie” Moore Gymnasium. Lake Arthur placed four players in double figures in the win, and nearly got a triple-double from sophomore guard Vivian Sketoe in the win. Sketoe, Kali Hornsby, Darrah Broussard and Hailey Broussard all hit double digits in the huge win for the Lady Tigers. A big second quarter in which the Lady Tigers outscored LCA 17-8 proved to be the deciding factor in the scoring column, and Lake Arthur held on throughout the second half to secure the win.

Lady Hornets thrash No. 5 Midland, 80-49

MIDLAND – The Hathaway Lady Hornets continued their dominance in district 6-B play early on by pounding the No.5-ranked Midland Lady Rebels by a final of 80-49. The Lady Hornets upped their impressive record to 23-4 overall, 2-0 in league play. Head Coach Courtney Young’s squad placed four scorers in double figures in the balanced effort, with Chaylee Beard, Madison Suire, Lamiyah Sanchez and Sienna Guidry all notching big nights. The Lady Hornets outscored Midland in every stanza of the contest, and used a 48-point first half to propel them to the big victory.

Hounds cruise past Red Devils, 61-35

WELSH – The Welsh Greyhounds made quick work over district foe Port Barre Friday night by claiming a 61-35 victory at Greyhound Gymnasium. The Hounds cruised out to a 51-16 lead after the first half horn sounded, and took their foot off the gas in the third and fourth periods to earn the lopsided 61-35 win. Welsh placed three players in double figures in the victory, including Jode Janise, Damien Hebert and Jonavan Begnaud. The win moves the Hounds to 8-11 overall, 1-1 in district 6-2A play.
