No. 8 Hounds sneak past Tensas, 68-56

WELSH — The No. 8 Welsh Greyhounds opened the LHSAA playoffs with a bang last Friday night as they scooted past No. 25 Tensas High School by a final of 68-56 from Greyhound Gymnasium. The Hounds advanced to host No. 9 Arcadia from north Louisiana Tuesday night from Greyhound Gymnasium in a regional round match-up in the Division IV non-select playoffs. The Hounds placed three players in double figures in their big win over Tensas, with La’Troy Pattum leading the way with a big 27-point performance. The win improved the Hounds out to 17-12 overall on the season.

Bulldogs roll past Demons, 72-40

The Jennings boys’ basketball team hosted the Franklinton Demons in the bi-district round of the playoffs Friday night. The No. 20 Demons led 9-8 in the first period, then the No.13 Bulldogs would lead 33-23 at halftime. Jennings would dominate the second half as they outscored Franklinton 39-17 and cruised on to an easy 72-40 win. Franklinton took a 2-0 lead, then a Sterling Guillory trey made it 3-2. A trey by DK Sams gave Jennings an 8-4 lead, then an Avery Brumfield trey gave the Demons a 9-8 lead at the 3:30 mark. An Azire Simon trey and a pair of Jeremy LeGros baskets would give Jennings a 15-10 lead at the end of the first period.

LAKE ARTHUR — The Division IV bi-district playoff round was a battle of the Tigers as No. 13 seed Lake Arthur High faced off with No. 20 seed Montgomery High. The Lake Arthur Tigers held homecourt advantage hosting the contest Friday night at “Nooky” Moore Gymnasium. It was an action-packed game as the two Tiger teams let loose for a cat-fight to determine who would advance to the regional round of the 2024 LHSAA Boys’ Basketball playoffs. Both teams brought the speed and agility of a tiger and the ball flew back and forth changing possession almost faster than you could follow. The Lake Arthur High Tigers would be the Tigers standing at the end of the contest with a win of 67-44 over the Montgomery High Tigers.

Van Lith gets hot in 75-60 win over Lady Vols

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Hailey Van Lith recorded a season high 26 points as she led No. 13 LSU to a 75-60 victory over Tennessee on Sunday inside Thompson-Boling Arena. The 15,281 fans in attendance was the largest this season at Tennessee and over 4,000 more than the next closest total.
