Cardinals tear through Midland, 10-0

The Lacassine Cardinals picked up a big district win over the Midland Rebels on Tuesday by blanking their guests by a final of 10-0. The win moves the Cards out to 10-8 overall, 3-0 in district play. The Cardinal pitching staff combined to throw a nohitter in the win, with Cobee Papillion picking up the win after going four innings and striking out eight. Gabe Gott came out of the pen to toss the fifth inning as the game was ended because of the 10-run rule.

Iota claims 10-inning thriller over Lady Dogs

In a battle of the Lady Bulldogs, it took 10 innings for Iota to score two runs to break a 4-4 tie and take a hard-fought 6-4 win over Jennings. Iota scored the tying run in the top of the 7th inning. Jennings had their chances in the 8th inning with a runner on third and bases loaded in the 9th inning, but couldn’t score. With Iota leading 6-4 in the 10th inning, Jennings had runners on first and second but couldn’t score.

Lady Dogs roll through Welsh, 13-3

The Jennings Lady Bulldogs improved to 15-4 on the season by picking up a 13-3 win over the Welsh Lady Hounds on Monday night at Tom Precht Field. The Lady Dogs were back in action on Tuesday night when they took on the Iota Lady Bulldogs in a non-district clash. The Lady Bulldog bats continued to stay hot at the plate as they pounded out 13 hits in the win, while pitcher Jenna Morvant hurled a complete game in which she only allowed one earned run over six frames and struck out seven. Ryleigh Daigle and Emma Venable had the big bats for the Lady Dogs as they both went 3-4 at the plate.

Diamond Dogs sweep DH over David Thibodeaux

The Jennings Bulldogs made it four in a row here yesterday by sweeping a doubleheader from the David Thibodeaux Bulldogs at Danny Reed Field. The Dogs won both games via the 10-run rule at 10-0 and improved their record to 10-5 on the season. The Dogs were back in action again on Friday when they traveled to Lafayette to face the same Bulldogs in the third game of their series.

Daigle inks at John Melvin University

The Jennings Bulldog baseball team has gotten off to a hot start to the 2024 season, but they got some great news off the field this week when senior pitcher Tyler Daigle inked a scholarship to play baseball at John Melvin University in Crowley. The Millers are a second year program that is already tasting success at the collegiate level, and play their home games at Historic Miller Stadium in Crowley. Daigle explained that this was a dream come true to further his playing career.

Lady Hounds sprint past Oberlin, 18-2

OBERLIN — The Welsh Lady Greyhound softball team traveled to play the Oberlin Lady Tigers Monday night in a non-district game. Welsh jumped out to a 10-0 lead after the first inning and went on to take an 18-2 win in four innings.
