Dogs hang on for 56-42 win over Kinder

The Jennings Bulldog basketball team hosted district opponent Kinder last week. The Dogs jumped out to a 13-0 lead and would take a 29-9 halftime lead. Kinder would make a comeback in the second half and trailed by 11 points in the final 90 seconds of the game. The Dogs would go on to take a 56-42 win over the Yellow Jackets.

Sears, Wrightsell Jr., Estrada lead Alabama to 109-88 win over LSU

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) — Mark Sears scored 21 points, Latrell Wrightsell Jr. hit five 3-pointers and finished with 19 points and Alabama pulled away early in the second half Saturday night to beat LSU 109-88.

Aaron Estrada added 18 points, seven assists and six rebounds for Alabama (14-6, 6-1 SEC). Rylan Griffen and Grant Nelson scored 12 apiece.

Auburn 79-75 last time out, have won eight of their last nine games, with the one loss coming at No. 5 Tennessee last Saturday.

Wells scores 20 as McNeese takes down New Orleans 102-65

LAKE CHARLES (AP) — Shahada Wells’ 20 points helped McNeese defeat New Orleans 102-65 on Saturday night.

Wells added five rebounds, eight assists, and three steals for the Cowboys (18-2, 7-0 Southland Conference). Javohn Garcia added 20 points while shooting 6 for 14 (2 for 5 from 3-point range) and 6 of 7 from the free throw line, and they also had three steals. Christian Shumate went 8 of 11 from the field to finish with 17 points. The Cowboys picked up their 13th straight victory.

Court stormings come in waves after Caitlin Clark incident

(AP) — Images of students pouring out of the stands at the final buzzer to celebrate with players on the home team following a big win have long been part of college basketball. Usually, no one gets hurt.

But court storming and the safety risks associated with it have received more scrutiny in the week since Iowa star Caitlin Clark collided with an Ohio State fan after the Buckeyes’ upset of the Hawkeyes in Columbus.

Vinton knocks off Tigers to take sole possesion of 5-2A

LAKE ARTHUR — Sole possession of first place in district 5-2A was on the line when the Lake Arthur Tigers hosted the Vinton Lions at “Nookie” Moore Gymnasium. The Tigers and Lions traded leads five times in the first half, with the Tigers leading 30-27 at the half. The two teams would trade leads four times in the second half, however Vinton would gradually increase their lead through the fourth period to take a 65-55 win.
