Hathaway cross-country team gains momentum

MOSS BLUFF — The Hathaway High School (HHS) cross-country team traveled to Moss Bluff to participate in the Sam Houston High School (SHHS) Bronco Invitational this past Wednesday. Several of the HHS runners bested their personal records (PR), giving them new goals to work towards in the remainder of the season.

Hounds ride four-game winning streak into DeQuincy

WELSH — The Welsh Greyhounds will face off against the DeQuincy Tigers this week in District 5-2A action riding a four game winning streak. After season-opening losses to Kinder and Westlake, the Greyhounds have ripped off four consecutive wins. Of those four wins, the last two were the biggest, as they knocked off the Loreauville Tigers, who were ranked number 10 in the state at the time, and then last week opened league play with a 51-6 win over the Grand Lake Hornets.

WELSH — The Welsh Greyhounds used a balanced offensive attack and a stiffling defense to claim a 51-6 victory over the Grand Lake Hornets in the opening round of District 5-2A play. With the win, the Hounds move to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in league play.

Indians shut out Bears

GUEYDAN — The Elton High Indians made the short trek to Gueydan Thursday night for a district contest against the Gueydan High Bears at Ed Baker Field. The Bears gave chase, but the Indians wouldn’t be caught as the game was a complete shutout moving Elton to 4-2, 2-1 while Gueydan dropped to 0-6, 0-3 in the week six competition.
