Hastedt, city street commissioner, was appearing before Judge H.O. Lestage, Jr. and accusing Abraham Paddiao, a garbage collector, of disturbing the peace, threatening to attack him and being “generally offensive!

The case went back to July 19. Paddiao had been collecting garbage from behind Manouvrier’s Drug Store.

Only a Republican victory in the current presidential race can prevent the surrender of this country to socialism, Taylor W. O’Hearn, state representative from Caddo Parish and Shreveport attorney, told Rotarians here yesterday.

O’Hearn, 56, is a Republican and is serving his first term in the legislature. He and Rep. Morley A. Hudson, also of Caddo Parish, are the first Republicans to serve in the Louisiana legislature since 1896.

Funeral services for William Mathew Wildman, 65, were conducted Sunday afternoon, January 22nd, at 4 °block from the Gimbel Funeral Home, Revernd O.G. Davis, of the Presbyterian church, assisted by Rev. H.K. Faulk of the Methodist church, officiating.

Mr. Wildman died January 20th at 6:40 p.m. at his home in Dallas following an illness of three years’ duration.
