The Rotary Club of Welsh met on May 9 and the guest speaker was HLE Program Director Hunter Logan. HLE is the home of Christian country music available over the internet. They feature local and national talent. HLE views this as their ministry. Hunter is holding a trophy they were awarded for outstanding broadcasting.

Lawmakers push food label restrictions

Louisiana’s lawmakers are on a labeling binge this year, pushing ahead with food classification restrictions on milk, rice, meat, sugar, shrimp, and crawfish as they try to assist the state’s agricultural industries.

The protectionist measures are provoking ridicule on social media, threats of litigation and objections from people who say they don’t need the state telling them that almond milk isn’t real milk.

It might have been easier to schedule a visit from President Donald Trump.

Instead, we were just trying to get television service restored following a lightning strike which melted and mutilated lines, roots, trees and rocks.

It started with the 1-800 call. These calls are often manned by people from Third World countries whose technical background is as illustrious as mine.

I don’t mean to be unkind but when I say, “The green light’s not on the converter box,” they shouldn’t have to ask, ”Is it normally on?”

Parents warned of dangers of ‘co-sleeping’

According to March of Dimes, parents of newborns should resist the temptation to have their children sleep in their beds with them. Known as “co-sleeping,” this practice can put a baby at risk of sudden infant death syndrome, or SIDS. In fact, March of Dimes notes that bed-sharing is the most common cause of death in babies younger than three months.
